We were away over the weekend, so I didn’t get to post. So, I’m here now waking up my sleepy blog. :p

I hope it was a great weekend all around. We were in South Georgia over the weekend. It was a really nice family weekend. We got lots of Nana time in which is always nice. Mickey and I even got to have a dinner date on Saturday which was great for us. The weather was incredible all weekend too and we just had a really great family weekend.

The reason we went down for the weekend was for our nephew Jackson’s baptism which was on Sunday. Jackson did great for the whole ceremony. He fell asleep in his mommy’s arms (is there anything more peaceful than a sleeping baby?!) and stayed asleep through most everything. He almost woke up when Liz leaned his head down to get his water and oil, but he went right back out. We had the honor and privilege of being included in the ceremony as Jackson’s Godparents and we take that vow very seriously and right to heart. We love that little boy so much and we feel so blessed that he has come into our family.

I will post more later. I need to catch up with a book review and deals. I’m also reading an incredibly powerful book that I can’t wait to post more about. It’s called The Shack and as soon as I’m done reading it, I’m going to post more.

Happy Monday!

It’s the weekend again. Time to bust out the “honey do” list and get to work! Our forecast today originally called for rain and we did have a short shower this morning, but the rest of the day should be pretty nice. Soooo…it’s project time! Here’s the short list of things we hope to get accomplished this weekend, specifically today:

  • Clean up around the back deck. This entails blowing the old leaves out, cleaning up toys that have fallen under the deck, etc.
  • Update the girls’ backyard play fort. This is all Mickey’s project.
  • Do some spring cleaning and organizing inside the house.
  • Mow the lawn.

Of course, we also want to do some fun family activities too. So, it’s shaping up to be a busy weekend, but really has the potential to be a great one! I hope it’s great all around for everyone!

Happy weekend, y’all!

This morning my Sister-in-Law Liz called and asked if Mickey and I would be Jackson’s Godparents. She and Charlie have really honored us with this beautiful request and we were more than happy to accept. Jackson is being baptized on Sunday, April 27th, and we will have the honor then of officially becoming his Godparents. That is just so exciting and amazing!

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 30th because that is 31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins from 5p-10p!

Participating Baskin-Robbins stores will have this special promo going on in honor of America’s firefighters. In some locations, patrons will be given opportunities to donate to their local fire charities.

Sounds like a winner to me!

Is there anything sweeter than a baby’s tiny little hands and feet? Oh, I just love to look at them.

I took these shots of our nephew Jackson over the weekend and I couldn’t resist sharing.

Look at his precious little feet!

And, his sweet baby hands…

SWOON!

Really, y’all…how precious are those little tiny toes and fingers? All so perfectly formed by God. It makes my heart smile just to see these sweet pictures and I had to share them here.

These are a few photos from our long weekend in South Georgia. (Just a little note: you can click on the photos to make them a little bit larger. I didn’t know that until Mickey told me last week, so I figured it was worth mentioning.)

This is our “niece”, Susie. She is Charlie & Liz’s dog and is the sweetest girl ever! She absolutely LOVES to chase tennis balls. Here she is in the yard wanting me to throw a ball for her. See how she has laid it down for me?

She’s waiting patiently for me to throw the ball for her.

I wish I had action shots of Susie and the tennis ball. The girl LOVES to play ball. She literally does not know the word “stop” when it comes to ball.

Here is Macey flying her Hello Kitty kite with directions from Daddy

The kite

Mariana and Macey check out the fish at the Flint Riverquarium in Albany

There were a couple of school groups at the Riverquarium at the same time we were there, but it wasn’t too crowded at all. Here is Macey checking out a rattlesnake with some kids from the school groups.

Mariana and Daddy check out the alligator

Of course, Macey had to see too.

I just had to snap some pictures of the sky on Friday. It was a gorgeous spring day and the sky was brilliant blue with beautiful clouds.

On Friday afternoon, Mickey and I took Macey to the All American Fun Park in Albany.

Macey played miniature golf for the first time ever and LOVED it!

She got a little instruction and some help on occasion from her Daddy, but she caught right on in no time!

I should also add that Macey got a HOLE IN ONE in her first ever round of mini golf! We didn’t see it, but she told us she already hit her ball on one hole and we found it in the cup. Pretty cool, huh?! She was thrilled!

We rode go-carts at the Fun Park too. Macey rode with her Daddy and they beat me around the track. (I let them…ha!!)

After the go-carts we rode bumper boats and it’s too bad I don’t have action shots of THAT because Macey rode with Mickey and they soaked me!! I got them some too, but not nearly like they got me.

A few cool sunset pictures from Friday. Isn’t God a magnificent Artist?!

We had a wonderful long weekend visit in South Georgia. It’s always great spending time with family, of course. We got home this afternoon and I have to say that it’s great being back. Now that Spring Break is over, we can fully get back into our normal routine which will be nice. Yay!

Just did our weekly grocery shopping at Publix. This week’s mystery coupon item was a 4-pack of Greenwise toilet paper. It’s not what we normally would buy, but for a penny I can’t pass it up. I managed to save almost 30% on my total grocery bill today which was great considering I bought vitamins ($8+) with no coupon and three cards to mail. I’m feeling good about those savings all around.

I have lots to do, but wanted to refresh my sleepy blog. I’ll be back in the swing of things tomorrow.

We are visiting family down in South Georgia for a long weekend. We came down yesterday and we’ll be staying at my mom’s (Nana’s) until Sunday. The weather here is incredible! Today it’s supposed to be near 90!! WOW!! We took the girls and our littlest nephew to the Flint Riverquarium this morning. We had LOTS of fun there and the girls just loved seeing all the fish, turtles, etc. It was rather crowded with school groups, but still lots of fun.

This afternoon we have big plans to fly kites out in Nana’s backyard. We also hope to take Macey to play her first round of miniature golf. Should be FUN! Tomorrow evening we are planning to see my best friend Terri and her family. This is just an exciting weekend for us!

It’s supposed to be a bit cooler here the next couple of days, so hopefully we can soak up all this nice warm sunshine today!

Happy weekend, y’all!

This week is Spring Break for the schools in our area, including our preschool. So, that means Macey is home all week and Mariana won’t have school on Friday morning. It’s both a blessing and an adjustment to have both girls home all day. I find myself looking for ideas to keep us all entertained and keep the girls from being completely bored. Doing this on a tight budget is a challenge, but is doable. Here are some of my ideas so far:

  • Trips to the park - Both to the “little park” which is just down the street in our neighborhood and also the “big park” which is a county park a few miles from our house.
  • A group outing to The Chattahoochee Nature Center which is fairly close by. We have never been, but I have heard great things and I think this would be great fun for the girls. They both love being outside and love animals.
  • Cooking and crafts at home - I need to research ideas on this one. I know we can make homemade play-dough, so that’s one thing.  I’m open to suggestion too.

We’re also planning on traveling to Nana’s (my mom’s) later in the week to be there for a long weekend. The girls are SO excited about that! The girls and I had planned to go down on Sunday and have Mickey join us later in the week, but we decided to be frugal and only take one vehicle to save money. With the price of gas, that makes more sense. Hopefully we can leave on Thursday afternoon and come back on Sunday to give us an extended weekend visit.

As much as we truly LOVE the girls’ preschool, it’s a blessing to have this time with them together this week. Macey will start kindergarten in the fall and Mariana will attend preschool three mornings per week, so having them together on a daily basis won’t happen as often. So, I am grateful for this Spring Break and I look forward to a nice long summer with my precious girls.

Happy Tuesday!
